2.) LAURA, always on the lookout for her next high, attended Moxie Fest and came back a changed woman.

3.) ZACH, hungry for fame, enjoys a guest spot on Gray's Anatomy and now speaks out against malpractice.

4.) LEXI, having grown three feet in the past two months, trumped her competition in America's Next Top Model.

5.) DYLAN, returning from an apprenticeship with Barry Feinstein, will not settle until you or your loved ones are granted adequate compensation for the harms done them.

6.) LILY, pictured with a knife, is the new spokesbear for Downy products.

7.) WILL is still too cool for you, but now it's just more apparent because he uses Axe and starches his popped shirt collars.

Admittedly that title has little to nothing to do with the subject of this post. Besides the fact that I included the word "future". And the fact that I was in love with Michael J. Fox as a youngster. What an amazing film series.

The new year is upon us! And with that knowledge, Ye Olde Bedfellows have been striving to fulfill some New Year's comedy resolutions.

1. Long Form. In the light. In the dark. Wherever. Whenever. Forever.

2. New website soon!

3. Taking the Trey Vag and their phat beatz global.

4. We're in the beginning stages of filming an improv mockumentary movie about the art of dance.

5. Each Bedfellow has written a heart-wrenching letter to The Learning Channel, begging for a full group makeover on "Ten Years Younger".

6. We're learning how to count, also, so we can make longer numbered lists of things we want to do. Six is our max, as of now.

ABOVE are a few photos from a pre-break shoot, entitled "Do some good this holiday season... bang a thesis student". Lily used her ability to GET around to spread... joy... around, during finals period.

We're shooting for a show this Sunday (1/28) at 9pm in the Ronj. Updates on that soon.

bedfellows are back on the scene!!!! so we got these new peeps, right? and they off the hizzy fo' shizzy. we rockin wit lily (posh vag) sullivan-she from telluride, then we gots zach bain (pain) from boston and finally will gardner (wilco) from VT. we opened with a wonderful short form show and we have already introduced long form to the group. rehearsals have been amazing...what a great year we have ahead of us!

As I make my way across the country I find myself wondering where all the alumni go when they leave Bates. Like many others I'm heading to California but only for a few days before I head up to Alaska. Yesterday on my drive I ran into two familiar faces, Lexi, and Meg. They both reside in the greater Chicago, IL area. We had a great lunch at Homers and then stuck our feet in the Great Lake Michigan. Pictures will be posted as soon as I have some more time to sit down at a computer. If there are any Bedfellows in Ft. It's officially time for summer vacation. While this has its obvious perks, it also means that we'll be saying goodbye to some incredible comedians... and friends (sigh).

Alex Teague, Meg Joyce, John Mulligan, Dustin Drury, and reigning gibberish master, Carrie Murphy: we wish you all the best in whatever you choose to do in the future. We'd also like to inform you that we've sneakily attached tracking devices to each of you, so that when the time comes to put together next year's alumni show, we can efficiently track you down. We mean business. Technology these days. I tell ya.

Crazy, We're Crazy For Feelin' So Lonely...

The Strange Bedfellows miss you, oh so terribly. Can't you see it in our sad, puppy eyes? Thankfully, we'll be back on campus sooner than you know it! Short term is right around the corner, and many laughs are to soon be had!

On our last show of Winter Semester:
We had a lot of fun long-forming for a great crowd on Friday night! The audience suggestion was "goldfish". There was some inappropriate tailgating, a janitor on witch trial, bus driver Gary, a few failed sexy accents, the misunderstood merging of art and food, as well as a wayward Canadian kickball team.

Fun was had by all. Weeee.

We had the grand presence of Chris Cary today to give us some tips and advice on our improv skills. Too bad he's at level 3 and we're at level 8. We just finished our Absolute Lunacy show yesterday, the ninth annual, Ninacy. The show started with some stand-up about the 5 minute rule from Ian. We then reminded everyone of the true reason for X-Mas, birth, and Dustin had a baby. We played some games and debuted some new sketches and songs including, "I'm Dreaming of a Red X-Mas", "Here Comes Menopause", and "Away in a Hotel Room". We hope everyone enjoyed the show and we'll be returning in January.

It's been a while since anyone has posted on this thing, so heres a little update. We just had two mini shows the past week, we limited the cast to each show to 5, that way it was a little more intimate and everyone got to play more games.

There will probably be another full group show next week, so stay tuned and maybe somewill actually update this blog. Check out my blog on the right for a few links of some good videos including one that Alex and I made. I am currently working on converting our "I Believe This is Happening Movie". I'll post that as soon as I'm finished.

The Strange Bedfellows will be performing a long form, Harold style improv show this Sunday. Come to Bates college campus and find the Silo(Benjamin E. Mays Center) at 10PM. We will be performing for just about an hour. If you don't know what a Harold is let me tell you...

We take a one word suggestion.

Someone does a monologue based on the suggestion, they tell some personal stories that the suggestion makes them think of.

We use the ideas and stories as inspiration for our improv scenes.

We do several scenes that will seem completely discconnected but by the end they will make total sense (not really, more like in a weirdly, random way).

Wow, the Strange Bedfellows came to Rock last night. We opened with "emotional symphony", then Lee and Lexi did a "pillars of intelligence" for us. We debuted a new game called "la ronde", it has long form themes which we will be exploring further soon. You got to see the documentary of "Fippe" some sheep italian man. We jammed on "foreign film", "genres", and who can forget Alex's crazy slow walking guy in freeze.

Make sure you bring your parents to the show tomorrow at 2pm in Gannett theater. It will be an hour of not having to talk to your parents while they're here, take adavantage of it.

We had a wicked rehearsal today. The new guys have some great energy and we are looking forward to a hilariously great year.

We played some new long form related excercises that are going to set us up for some great Harolds. The first new people show of the year is set for the 29th at 10pm in the Ronj, which happens to coincide with Alex's birthday. We will also be having a parents weekend show that Saturday in Gannett at 2PM.

Alumni show went great. We had 2 Nates for double the alumni fun. Nate B made a suprise appearance that was so great. Everyone had a ton of fun.

The Nates sang a duet song to open the show with Dustin playing guitar. Several new games were debuted and the crowd seemed to love every minute of it. Look for the special DVD release coming soon to a Best Buy near you.

Stay tuned for next years alumni show which will be The Strange Bedfellows 10 year anniversary, certainly something to celebrate.

well, our upcoming Alumni Show has sadly become the Alumnus Show, featuring one and only one of our distinguished and surprisingly busy Bedfellow alumni. however, the silver lining to this cloud is that the one alumnus is none other than Nate "Hamlet" Holt (for the record, "hamlet" wasn't like a popular nickname for nate that you missed out on, that was just pure improv right there.)

One Harold we did followed the story line of a young girl whose father taught her to blackmail, cheat, bribe, and cover her tracks. She became a great compromiser and took over several nations. One of Sony's competitors hired her to weed out the mole in their company. In the end all the bad guys died and we all lived happily ever after. Come see us tomorrow at 10 and tell your friends!!!

On the Australian Sense of Humor

It's kind of like a drunk version of the British sense of humor. They enjoy "My Wife and Kids", a short lived sitcom in America starring Damon Wayans and Trisha Campbell (last seen as Martin Lawrence's girlfriend in "Martin"), as well as "America's Funniest Home Videos" (which reminds me: destroy Bob Sagat). They also seem to enjoy singing songs on the bus to and from downtown with lyrics like:

I'd bang 'em on the hour.

Jeeze for someone that doesn't even care about sports, you can be quite a %!^& about Syracuse losing. I admit defeat and the fact that I am bitter as hell(I feel the need to sensor the other word, but I can say hell). This said I feel that people should lay off and let people deal with defeat however they may. Me for instance I got really drunk and then danced off my anger at the Purim Party(Thanks Jews!!). And now that W. Virginia won all I have to say is, "GANSEY!!!"

Other than that little rant STRANGE BEDFELLOWS VS. MANIC OPTIMISTS is still on. The ManOps will go on at 9:30 and the Bedfellows will come on shortly after. So get there a little early to hear some music and drink some coffee.

So I just saw Dustin, and was like, 'oh, we can't have our show on Sunday night anymore.' then I was all, 'of course not. it has nothing to do with my poor organizational skills. the manic optimists prebooked in the summer of '03. we were screwed by fate. that's all.' and finally, 'don't you point fingers, you bastard. As if we don't all have our own shortcomings. when I'm old and rich, this will be an endearing eccentricity. think about the future.'
We have reached a truce, and now will join forces against the manic optimists in the thunderdome-style match dustin has described.

I just ran into Juan Mulligan who recieved an email from our good friend and coordinator or Ronj events Pete Keys. The email read something like, "sorry john but the manic optimists reserved the ronj for 9 or 9:30, you guys can do your show at 7 or 7:30 if you want"

So now we will challenge the Man-Ops to a death cage match in the ronj. Each member of each group will be allowed to bring one weapon(no projectiles, or explosives) for a close combat battle royale. You won't want to miss it. Stay tuned as this story develops...

So I spent my day frantically registering for classes.
This was mostly pointless, since:
a. I hope to not take the short term I signed up for,
and b. I don't think I fulfilled my graduation requirements
Then Dustin and I tried to get out of the classes we just registered for for Short Term. We're trying to sell the idea of a sketch-comedy independent study, and we were led to the Minitaur's lair, Pettigrew. After wandering around for a few, we found the professor we were looking for, who will not be on campus for Short Term. Now we're looking for other professors.

A Shot to the Heart and Your Too Late...

There has always been some tension between Dustin and Lee in shows, but in a recent rehearsal Lee finally acted on his hate. Lee stabbed Dustin in the heart with an icicle. Dustin was quickly rushed to the hospital and all the ice splinters were quickly melted, but he now has a cold heart(baaaaaaziiiiiiiing)!!

You kids and your new-foozled whats-its. Back in my day, we shared our mundane, daily lives with each other by depicting them on elaborate wooden reliefs, each carved with the most delicate craftsmanship. Pine was the standard wood base for a dlog (which is what we called them, a shortening of "woodlog"). Among those who were savvy, however, the wood of choice was teak.

But I shall endeavor to make use of this neue-fangled snag-jobber. I promise to keep posting regularly if other peolpe do. Pinky swear? Good.
